Terms of Use

Onomi · Effective 8 August 2026

Onomi is an English vocabulary app. You point your camera at things around you, it tells you their English names, and it brings those words back for review until you know them. These terms explain what you can expect from it, and what it expects from you.

1. Agreement

By downloading or using Onomi ("the app"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. The app is provided by Beyza Gürer ("we", "us").

Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement also applies to your use of the app, and is available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. Where these terms and Apple's agreement conflict, these terms apply to the extent permitted.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Onomi on Apple devices you own or control, for your own learning. You may not sell, rent, sub-licence or redistribute the app, and you may not reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract its source code or bundled content except where that restriction is prohibited by law.

3. Free and Pro

Onomi is free to use. Scanning, collecting words and the full review queue are available to everyone at no cost and with no limit on how much you use them.

Onomi Pro is an optional paid subscription that adds a detailed card for every word you collect, spelling practice, listening practice and weekly goals. We may add to, change or discontinue features over time; if we materially reduce what a paid subscription includes, we will say so in the app.

4. Subscriptions and billing

5. Accuracy

Onomi recognises objects automatically, and automatic recognition is sometimes wrong. It may name the wrong object, or offer a word that isn't the one you'd use in your own region. Where a suggestion is wrong, the app lets you choose a different word.

The example sentences are written to teach ordinary usage at an intermediate level. Onomi is a learning aid. It is not a translation service, a dictionary of record, or professional language instruction, and you should not rely on it where accuracy genuinely matters.

6. Using the app responsibly

You are responsible for what you point your camera at and for following the laws where you are, including any rules about photographing people or private property. Do not use Onomi for anything unlawful, and do not attempt to disrupt or interfere with the app.

7. Ownership

Onomi, including its software, design, word list, example sentences and artwork, belongs to us and is protected by copyright and other laws. These terms do not transfer any ownership to you. The words you collect are yours and stay on your device.

8. No warranty

Onomi is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that its recognition or content will be accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Onomi will not exceed the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Onomi or its content, and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

11. Termination

You may stop using Onomi at any time by deleting it. We may suspend or end your licence if you breach these terms. Ending the licence does not entitle you to a refund of amounts already paid, except where required by law or granted by Apple.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version is always posted here with its effective date, and continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Türkiye, without regard to conflict of law rules. This does not remove any protection you have under the mandatory consumer law of the country where you live.
